Dynamic DNS

Available

YasDNS

A stable hostname for a changing public IP address.

Overview

What is YasDNS?

Many internet connections receive a public IP address that changes from time to time. When it changes, anything that relies on the old address, such as remote access, a camera recorder or a small server, can no longer be reached.

Dynamic DNS solves this by keeping a hostname pointed at your current address. When your IP changes, the hostname is updated and you keep connecting by the same name. YasDNS is the Dynamic DNS service from Konix IT, with a web dashboard for managing hostnames.

How it works

How Dynamic DNS keeps you connected

  1. Your public IP changes

Your internet provider assigns a new address to your connection.

  2. An update is sent

A compatible router or client on your network reports the new address.

  3. Your hostname follows

The hostname points to the new address, so you keep connecting by name.

Capabilities

Typical uses for Dynamic DNS

  • Camera recorders

Reach a video recorder on site without tracking its current address.

  • Self-hosted services

Keep a stable name for a small server or application hosted on your own connection.

  • VPN endpoints

Point remote staff at a hostname instead of an address that may change.

  • Remote administration

Connect to on-site equipment for support and maintenance.
